About the Author
Miami resident Steven Brooke’s architectural photography and scholarship has earned him numerous honors, including the Rome Prize. He is a fellow of the American Academy in Rome and winner of the A.I.A. National Institute Honor Award for photography. Brooke has authored several books, including Rizzoli’s Views of Rome and Views of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, and photographed Miami: Mediterranean Splendor & Deco Dreams, Casa Florida, and Florida Modern. Beth Dunlop is the author of numerous books, including Rizzoli’s Aqua: Miami Modern by the Sea and Miami: Mediterranean Splendor & Deco Dreams. She is editor-in-chief of Home Miami magazine and an award-winning architecture critic of the Miami Herald.

Great little book. Pictures are beautiful and colors are perfect. It does have a vintage feeling which goes perfect with the theme of the book.I live in Miami Beach and see those building daily, I love architecture and would definitely recommend this book to anyone. If a nice touch for a coffee table.
I am really pleased with this book. It is small, which i realized when I read the reviews, but it has many pages with plenty of beautiful color pictures that capture pretty much all the art deco in Miami. For the price of a magazine this book really presents an excellent value.
coffee table stuff
This is a small sized book - 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 which I wasn't anticipating. It contains good photos of buildings and close-up details of some buildings but not much else. The photos are not individually captioned, you have to refer to the Index at the back which provides the name and date built but no other details. I'd been looking for a book with a ton of photos and history of the buildings which doesn't seem to exist so this is adequate, particularly for the price.

great pictures. very well written
This book presents a strong visual documentation and unsentimental ode to a lost era of deco architecture. Historically relevant, this compilation is a classic architectural photography book. Ever shrewed in his choices, Brooke had the access and acumen to capture the detail and bravado of the deco style in all of its glory. I love the book and the images are terrifically cool and crisp. The photographer has a point of view but ultimately he photographs what is there, capturing a moment in time (or perhaps a moment lost in time?). I bought three copies as gifts for friends and they love the book as well.
Unique and worthwhile keeper.
